Kokorwe served to her best abilities

Former legislator and cabinet minister, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi has hailed Gladys Kokorwe as a great administrator, who was committed to work and excelled in her duties.
Speaking at a memorial service at Tapologo farm in Ramaphatle on Tuesday, Dr Venson-Moitoi said she met Kokorwe at the then Ministry of Local Government where she was working as an Establishment Officer.
She said the former Speaker was a training officer of note, gifted with administration, to a level that many were amazed at her abilities.
Dr Venson-Moitoi said based on her abilities, Kokorwe was trusted to lead the establishment of Sowa Town, where she did wonders.
She added that God has a way of giving people gifts no matter how insignificant they may be, they would bring great change to the lives of people.
Dr Venson-Moitoi said her life ought to teach people about what matters most in life and take the baton to continue her legacy.
A representative of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), former councillor Major Driver Motlokwa said following his retirement from Botswana Defence Force in 2001, Kokorwe roped him into the team that was tasked with driving the BDP mandate.
Mr Motlokwa said Kokorwe served for three terms as the Member of Parliament for Kweneng South from 1994, a time in which she worked with determination and commitment.
He said Kokorwe worked tirelessly, adding that former President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama President Khama loved her because she was time conscious and always delivered on her assignments.
Mr Motlokwa said Kokorwe was a people centered person who embraced all and never belittled anyone.
He said she never associated with dirty politics, where political campaigns were dominated derogatory language and shaming of opposing politicians. Her focus was always on sharing the party mandate and its promise to the people.
Another speaker, Mr Kruger Balosang said Kokorwe did wonders while working at the then Ministry of Local Government where among others she prioritised training of employees as well as equipping them with necessary tools to effectively do their job
The memorial service was attended by among others, Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe, former vice president, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, Kgosi Mosadi Seboko, former Cabinet Ministers and MPs. ENDS
