Gaseitsewe case postponed to April 9

16 Mar 2026

Senior Magistrate Keneilwe Kgoadi of Kanye Magistrates' Court has re-scheduled the case for Metlhaeno Gaseitsewe who is accused of undermining Bogosi Act to April 9.

Gaseitsewe is facing a charge of violating section 25(1) in conjunction with section 25(3) of the Bogosi Act, Laws of Botswana. Magistrate Kgoadi postponed the case following the defense Counsel Palesa Moletsane’s plea to postpone the case to a further date as the other defense counsel was unable to attend.

Counsel Moletsane also pleaded for the postponement on grounds that the defense had filed an application for Kgosi Malope II to provide a DNA test. Gaseitsiwe is accused of his assertion that Kgosi Malope II has no royal blood and does not possess the qualities of a leader.

According to the charge sheet provided by the director of Public Prosecutions, Gaseitsewe allegedly made the statements during a kgotla meeting in Kanye on February 13, 2024. BOPA
