Court remands duo in Makobo murder case
18 Feb 2026
The duo appeared before the Francistown Magistrates Court for a status-hearing where it was reported the case is awaiting forensic results before it gets committed to the high-court.
Prosecutor, Mr Moatlhodi Macheng told the court that several attempts have been made to get the results, but it had since transpired that there had been a delay at the laboratory.
He therefore asked the court to continue remanding the two accused while waiting for the results, which he stated, formed crucial evidence in the matter at hand.
When asked to comment in court, the second accused, Onalenna Fana, pleaded with the court to grant them bail while they wait for results, citing that she needed to see her children and help one of them whom she said was not performing well.
The court has thus ordered the two to apply for bail at the high court. Attempt to apply for bail on October 10 last year by the two accused did not see the light of day.
The two who are alleged to have murdered Elicah Fana on June 9, 2025 at or near Makobo village will appear again for status hearing on March 19, 2026.
Meanwhile, the court also arraigned Obakeng Khumoetsile of Borolong village who appeared for one count of murder.
The accused is alleged to have murdered Faith Mbaiwa on February 14 in Tatisiding.
The accused was remanded in custody as little progress has been done for the case is still a fresh matter and the investigations are ongoing. He will appear before court on March 10.ENDS
