The Deputy School Head at Lobatse Senior Secondary School, Mr Ketlhaotswe Ghobe, says education is not the sole responsibility of the schools alone as it requires collaboration, unity and shared responsibility by all.
In his welcome remarks during the handing over of a duplicating machine by stakeholders at the school on Friday, Mr Ghobe said when partners come together to support schools with tangible resources, they strengthen the foundation upon which quality teaching and effective learning were built.
He said like many institutions, the school experienced challenges due to limited facilities, including duplicating machines, something he said led to delays in the printing of learning materials.
“Many times, the staff members are forced to seek assistance from outside and navigating these hurdles requires immense patience, resilience, and extra effort from all of us,” he said.
The School Head, Mr Tonny Tautona said although the school was entrusted with shaping the minds and future of learners, quality teaching required adequate resources, which could only be made possible through meaningful partnership with stakeholders and well-wishers.
He said a duplicating machine was more than just equipment as it represented commitment, collaboration and confidence in the school's vision.
Mr Tautona said teaching and learning relied heavily on timely and accessible instructional materials, examination papers, assignments, revision notes and other academic resources which he noted impacted lesson delivery in their absence.
He said therefore that the generous sponsorship of the machine would significantly improve efficiency within the school and would enable teachers to prepare and distribute materials promptly and enhance learner performance.
Mr Phenyo Maoto of DEBSWANA encouraged students to make choices that would reward them in future, and to be determined for their success, regardless of circumstances.
"Work hard, be kind, respectful," he encouraged them.
The duplicating machine was bought at a whooping P81,000,00 by different stakeholders namely, DEBSWANA and DEBSWANA Alumni,Class of 99, Class of 98,class of 89, Class of 84, FLOTEK Botswana and BERA. ENDS
