Child Support Grant commences

The payment of the P300 Child Support Grant has officially started.
A press release from the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs says eligible beneficiaries whose applications have been approved have started receiving the P300 monthly Child Support Grant, together with all arrears due to them from the programme effective start date of April 1, 2026.
The Child Support Grant is aimed at supporting children below the age of one year by helping low-income households meet their children’s basic needs during the critical first 12 months of life. The ministry says the programme is intended to promote healthy brain development, physical growth, improved nutrition and overall wellbeing.
The ministry further says beneficiaries do not need to rush to Post Offices or other designated payment points on the first day of payment, as funds can be collected at any time during the payment month once they have been credited.
It encourages beneficiaries to visit payment points on convenient days, follow instructions from officials and payment agents, carry the required identification documents and report any payment-related enquiries to their nearest Social and Community Development Office.
The ministry expresses appreciation to members of the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the implementation of the programme. It says government remains committed to strengthening Botswana’s social protection system to improve the wellbeing of children, families and communities across the country. ENDS
