Angel Network Botswana has been praised for its role in promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and investment, playing a key position in Botswana’s journey toward a diversified economy.

“You have built a trusted platform connecting entrepreneurs with investors, mentors and opportunities,” 

Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Mr Tiroeaone Ntsima said during the organisation’s anniversary celebration in Gaborone on Friday. Referring to the event’s theme: Creating the Conditions for Botswana’s Next Economy, Mr Ntsima said Botswana’s next phase of development required an economy that was diversified, productive and globally competitive, driven by entrepreneurship, innovation, technology and value addition.

He noted that government continued to implement reforms to improve the ease of doing business, reduce barriers to investment and strengthen competitiveness.

 “Our role is to ensure every entrepreneur with talent and vision has access to a transparent, flexible and supportive environment,” he said.   Mr Ntsima described innovation as an economic necessity across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, fintech, healthcare and the creative industries, saying it boosts productivity, create jobs and opens new markets.

He also highlighted the importance of Angel Network Botswana as investors, saying they provided more than capital by offering mentorship, credibility and business networks that help entrepreneurs turn ideas into successful businesses.  Mr Ntsima encouraged entrepreneurs to remain ambitious by building innovative businesses that solve problems, create sustainable employment and take the Botswana brand to regional and global markets.  The minister called for stronger partnerships between government, the private sector, investors and academia to achieve Vision 2036 and build a more diversified, innovative and prosperous Botswana.
