UDC welcomes new members in Ditshegwane

Umbrella for Democracy Change (UDC) members have been urged to nurture and preserve the party’s success and respect everyone's right toward prosperity for all.
Welcoming new members at a victory celebration for Takatokwane Member of Parliament, Mr Jacob Kelebeng at Ditshegwane on Saturday, Botswana National Front (BNF) chairperson, Mr Moses Bantsi said welcoming members to the party was a welcome development.
He urged new members to work for the party saying personal agendas would not be welcomed.
He further said the celebration bore testimony of the good that UDC had achieved, adding that the constituency was in safe hands through Mr Kelebeng and councillors.
Mr Bantsi said MP Kelebeng’s reign in Takatokwane could only succeed through
the support and guidance of the constituents and party elders.
For his part, Mr Kelebeng appreciated the support from the constituents.
“I am here to celebrate what we have
achieved. Through your vote I was tasked with the responsibility to be in the Cabinet, an executive arm of government therefore my responsibility is to deliver as per the mandate of the assignment,” he said.
Mr Kelebeng also said he could only succeed through the guidance and support of the elders and constituents.
Mr Kelebeng said he had initiated projects that were meant to augment what the government was offering to improve the livelihoods of the constituents.
Ms Sadie Moremong, Secretary General of the Botswana National Front Women's League appealed to women inthe constituency to work hard and compete for leadership positions.
Ms Moremong said it was time for women to be counted, saying the MP together with councillors in the constituency were men, save for one woman who was nominated.
“As we celebrate, let us advocate for a safer Botswana where women are protected as well," she said.
Letlhakeng MP, Brigadier Domcaza Mokgwathi said victory in Takatokwane never came easy, adding that despite the challenges and given the mammoth task at hand, Mr Kelebeng and the councillors presevered as they were driven by passion and desire to serve the people.
MP Tshenolo Bogatsu of Lentsweletau-Lephepe said the victory was worth celebrating as it had brought a wind of change.
“We are here to serve our people and insure that they equally enjoy their resources, ” he said adding that politics was not about acquiring wealth but serving the people.
MP Letlhogonolo Barongwang of Mogoditshane East said UDC was working on creating a prosperous nation.
“With MrKelebeng,
the constituency has chosen a resolute anddetermined individual.Guard against all those who are working against the UDC project and determined to deter our future prospects,” said Mr Barongwang. ENDS
