According to the station commander, Superintendent Matlapeng, the scammers allegedly instructed the officer to perform various rituals in exchange for spiritual help, ultimately swindling him out of more than P300,000.
“Just like any Motswana, he followed all their instructions, believing he would receive help, but instead, he lost a substantial amount of money,” Mr Matlapeng explained.
He issued a stern warning to both the public and fellow officials, urging them to remain vigilant when dealing with individuals who claim to offer spiritual services, cautioning that they shouldn’t be desperate for help.
“This can happen to anyone, even trained officers. We urge people to seek help only from verified, legitimate and reputable traditional healers, pastors, or priests,” he said. ENDS
