Magistrate Slaps man with 15 years for possession of Methcathinone

Senior Magistrate Atlanang Manchwe of Letlhakane Magistrate Court has on Monday sentenced Emmanuel Mothobi to 15 years imprisonment for possession of Methcathinone, an illicit drug popularly known as Cat, weighing 150grams.
The 39-year-old Mothobi was found guilty and charged with unlawful possession of illicit substances contrary to section 4 of the Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act 2018 of the laws of Botswana.
Senior Magistrate Manchwe said the offence carried a minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment or P1 million fine.
She therefore said she found no exceptional extenuating circumstances in the matter hence the 15-year jail term. ENDS
