Mahalapye police investigate shooting

Police in Mahalapye have arrested a 20-year-old man to help with investigations regarding an incident in which a woman was shot.
Speaking in an interview, Detective Letsweletse Baile of Mahalapye police station said the incident occurred on February 8 at Leretlwa ward in Mahalapye. The suspect shot the woman on the arms.
Detective Baile said the two, who were lovers and both hailed from Leretlwa ward, reportedly had a misunderstanding that led to the shooting. The woman was admitted at Mahalapye District Hospital.
The suspect appeared for mention and was set to face attempted murder charges. Mr Baile also said they were worried about rising cases of people who shot others.
This followed a recent incident in which a man in Radisele allegedly shot his Zimbabwean employee’s arms and was later amputated at Mahalapye hospital.
In another incident, Detective Baile said the police with the help of Kalamare village residents were still searching for a man who went missing on January 28 at Kokolo cattle post. He appealed to Kalamare residents and those of sorrounding areas to help them locate the man. ENDS
