06 Aug 2025

Investigations into the Kgomokasitwa triple murder case have been completed and prosecution is making preparations to commit the matter to the High Court.

The 34-year-old accused, Moagi Mokomeng, a soldier, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ms Rebecca Motsamai of Lobatse Magistrate Court on yesterday. The state prosecutor, Ms Tamela Mbulawa told court that the prosecution had completed investigations and was left with finalising an evidence photograph album, which the Directorate of Public Prosecution received on Monday and was sent back for corrections.

She said they were working on preparing documents to commit the matter to the High Court for trial, hence she requested a case status hearing to be set in a month-time to enable them to tie any loose ends. Mokomeng is charged with nine counts, which include murder, attempted murder, arson and malicious damage to property.

The accused allegedly killed Elizabeth Ramolala, Alefha Ramolala and Katlego Ramolala. He also attempted to murder Happy Ramolala by burning the house he was occupying and a police officer sergeant Thabo Dibotelo by shooting him with a service firearm.  He is further charged with setting Elizabeth Ramolala’s house on fire in Kgomokasitwa on or about February 25.

Additionally, the accused is charged with causing malicious damage to property by damaging the windows of a dwelling house used by Wathapelo Tiro. He is further charged with firing gunshot damaging the load bin, dash board, bonnet, right front bumper and ignition chamber of a white Toyota Hilux, which belonged to the deceased Elizabeth. The suspect is scheduled to appear again in court on September 3.
