President Boko undertakes working visit to Lesotho

‎President Advocate Duma Boko left  today for a three-day working visit to Lesotho  at the invitation of Prime Minister  of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Mr Sam Matekane.

‎During the visit the President will meet his Majesty  King Letsie III to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, as well as explore  ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Botswana and Lesotho. ‎The two countries  cooperate in  various areas, including education, defence and security, and judicial matters.
‎ 
‎President Boko will also pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Mr  Matekane and undertake site visits of key locations such as the Tsinyane, which is  the proposed dam site for Lesotho -Botswana Water Transfer Project (L-BWT).  ‎L-BWT project aims to promote integrated water  resources management, enhance  regional  cooperation on water security issues and improve climate-resilient socio-economic development.

‎Furthermore, the President will attend the 62nd birthday celebration of his Majesty, King Letsie III on July 17.  President Boko will also engage with Batswana living in Lesotho and inform  them about  the new government’s agenda and address emerging national  issues.

‎President Boko is accompanied by Minister of  International Relations, Dr Phenyo Butale and senior government officials.  The President and his delegation are expected  to return to Gaborone on July 17. ENDS
