Principal Magistrate, Mr Thapelo Buang of Francistown Magistrate Court, today remanded two accused persons involved in the alleged murder of 72-year-old woman of Makobo in custody.

The duo, 54-year-old teacher, Ruth Fana and Onalenna Fana, who are the daughter and granddaughter of the deceased, allegedly killed Elica Fana at Makobo on June 7. The deceased was found dead with severe wounds on her body at her home in Makobo on June 9.

The police made breakthrough on the case on June 24, arresting the duo. The accused Ruth asked the court to give her bail as she was taking care of her grandchildren whereas Onalenna asked for bail to enable her to take care of her child.

However, Magistrate Buang ordered the two to be remanded in custody as their matter was still new and the investigations still ongoing. The accused persons would appear in court again on July 15 for their bail hearing. ENDS
