Extension II Magistrate Court has remanded in custody a 22-year-old unemployed man of Lesunyaneng ward in Tlokweng, Karabo Kgosimore for the murder of his mother.
“The accused shall be remanded in custody to allow police to complete their investigations,” said Magistrate Kamogelo Mmesi, granting a state application on Friday.
Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) prosecutor Othusitse Moatlhodi said the case was recent and therefore requested court to remand the accused.
Mr Moatlhodi explained that investigations were ongoing, as the incident occurred midweek.
Kgosimore, who is accused of killing Constance Kgosimore on or about June 18 in Tlokweng accepted that he was guilty when asked if there was anything he wanted to say to the court.
However, the Magistrate said it was not yet time for a plea, and his plea was subsequently reserved.
He is scheduled to appear for a status update on July 10.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Magistrate Mmesi remanded another murder accused, Kabo Garethusane, in custody for the murder of Goabaone Mothofela in Old Naledi on June 15..
Garethusane (35) pleaded with the court to grant him bail, stating that he cared for his young child and his elderly, blind parents.
“Unfortunately, this is a murder case, and the court should allow the investigations to proceed. Your application will therefore not be acceded to,” Magistrate Mmesi said.
She said Garethusane’s bail application would only be considered after the investigation was completed.
The accused person is scheduled to appear for a status hearing on July 3. ENDS
