Police recover cash and valuables from tricksters

In a case which involves a Letlhakane woman who was tricked and swindled P845 000 recently, the police have so far recovered P10 400 cash, four vehicles estimated at the value of P207 000, and furniture, clothing and cellphones estimated to have cost P24 000, all suspected to be proceeds of the scam.
Investigating officer in the matter is also set to travel to Mahalapye to collect some of the exhibits such as a new fence erected at one of the accused mother’s yard believed to be part of the proceeds of the swindled money. Pending ongoing investigations, Senior Magistrate Atlang Manchwe of Letlhakane Magistrates Court further remanded in custody the four accused persons in this matter.
Dimpho Lebakeng, Thatayaone Luciam, Tuelo Seduke and Phethani Moyo will remain behind bars until June 20, when they appear in court again. The four are accused of masquerading as traditional healers and in the process tricking their victim to sell her house and vehicle and give them the money to cleanse it.
Letlhakane New Police station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said the police were looking for the fifth suspect in the matter who was still at large. He was hopeful that more was still to be recovered as police investigations were ongoing. ENDS
