Woodhall Police are investing a case in which a 31-year-old prisoner was found dead at Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital in Lobatse yesterday.  

In an interview, Officer Commanding District No.4 Senior Superintendent Russ Letsebe said the deceased was a Zimbabwean man who shared a cell with a 23-year-old male prisoner from Gumare at Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital. The prisoners, who were incarcerated at Maun Prison, were referred to Sbrana for psychiatric examination as part of the criminal procedure. 

Senior Superintendent Letsebe said the police received a report from the hospital yesterday and immediately attended to the murder scene and took the deceased to Athlone Hospital, where he was certified dead.

He said the deceased had suffered serious bodily harm and beatings adding that the suspect was his cellmate, who was assisting the police with further investigations. He said it was still unclear as to what could have happened as police investigations had started. ENDS
