Organisers of the annual Miss Millennium beauty pageant, have promised to stage a bigger and better event scheduled for March 15.
“We want to take the audience to the past through fashion when items like figure belts were every girls favourite,” said Zenzele Hirschfield of Zen Promotions, during a press conference on Wednesday, February 5.
Hirschfield has been abscent for two-years from the annual event while 79 Macheri event management coordinators held forth. About the beauty contestants, Hirschfield said they were looking for women of worth, who would be mothers to the needy and the disabled people.
“We are not doing it for fun,” she said. “We want someone who can uplift the life of these people.” The annual Miss Millennium beauty pageant, in its seventh edition, is open to women aged 40 and above.
Meanwhile, Millennium jazz restaurant partner owner, Shima Monageng, stated that in the past, title holders worked with members of the community by assisting the less privileged and the disabled.
Registration of contestants is going on. Tickets for the pageant cost P50. Miss Millennium was established in 2008 as a way of creating a platform to celebrate and empower women aged 40 and above. The past winners had successfully and significantly contributed towards social development of some communities through charity work. ENDS
