Mauano calls for prudent spending

The Okavango Sub-district Council has approved P161.8 million budget for the 2014/15 financial year.
Thee sub-council chairperson, Mr Samson Mauano announced this in Gumare recently. He appealed to all stakeholders in the sub-district to use the little resources they had at their disposal since there was no money.
Mr Mauano said because government was still facing shortage of money due to the economic downturn, it could not afford to address all the problems of the entire sub-district.
Therefore, he said, the situation should not discourage stakeholders to work in the area; instead they should work hard for the improvement of service delivery in the sub-district.
“You can manage this only when you work as a team and cooperate as essential tools for optimal utilization of resources in order to attain the goal,” he said.
He said the government was aware of shortage of resources, including vehicles in different departments, but due to funds constraints, it could not afford to purchase new ones and urged stakeholders to share and use the little resources they have in their areas.
However, Cllr Motlamedi Moqwa of Gumare North noted that the budget excluded the fire service in the area although it was important. ENDS
