Insurance company hands over borehole

The Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited Trust (BIHL) has handed over a borehole worth P105 000 to Bakgatla Bolokang Matshelo hospice (BBM).

During a ceremony in Mochudi, communications and marketing manager of BIHL Trust, Ms Tebogo Keepetsoe said their relationship with BBM started in 2011 through the coordinator of the centre, Ms Stella Raphoto.

She said they assessed the needs of the centre and decided to drill a borehole for the centre so that they could water their garden.

Ms Keepetsoe said a decision to help a non-governmental organisation was not easily arrived at, as it had to provide a worthy service to the community.

She acknowledged that since the centre uplifted the lives of people and also helped poverty stricken families, they deserved to be assisted hence provision of water through an electrified borehole.

Giving an overview of the centre, Ms Raphoto said the centre was established for the purpose of helping victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. She said since the establishment of the centre, many families had been assisted with the help of many partnerships with different companies.

Ms Raphoto noted that different programmes had been developed to cater for different needs of people they serve. She further said new programmes such as the youth employment programme had been introduced to assist the youth with employment and also help them get back to school.

She said their day care centre was not yet complete but First National Bank Botswana had agreed to complete the building and soon it would be up and running.

Giving a vote of thanks, Kgosi Mothibe Linchwe who is also Bakgatla Bolokang Matshelo board chairman thanked Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited Trust for their commitment towards assisting different communities.  

He said the borehole donation was a good gesture from the company and will go a long way in curbing shortage of water in the centre. Kgosi Mothibe said water plays an important role in the lives of people and the borehole would provide such.

He commended the centre staff for continuing to assist different people in the community and implored them to continue with the good spirit. Ends
