Julia Molefhe Clinic re-opens

04 Feb 2014

Julia Molefhe Clinic in Gaborone's Block 9 location has been given a facelift at a cost of P1.9 million.

Speaking at the re-opening ceremony, health minister, Dr John Seakgosing commended the contractor for delivering the project on time and within budget. Dr Seakgosing said the clinic needed a facelift as well as additional services and technologies to meet the demand and needs of an increasing population.

“Despite the economic down turn that the entire global village is experiencing, my ministry found it fit to uplift the image of this clinic. “This will go a long way in improving service delivery and the quality of care for residents of Block 9 and the Gaborone community at large,” said Dr Seakgosing.

The renovations that were carried out included overhauling all sanitary appliances, extension of the security house to include a driver’s rest area, painting of the clinic, removal of fixed benches, removal and replacement of ceiling and floor tiles.

The refurbished clinic now has spacious consultation rooms, a toilet for the disabled, a large waiting area, registry, revenue and dispensary areas, four bedded accident and emergency bay, covered carports and a state of the art laboratory facility built through the help of the Centre for Disease Control.

Dr Seakgosing said the clinic would have a back-up generator, a computer based patient information management system, an electronic queue management system, staff clocking system and an electronic security system. Furthermore, the minister said his ministry planned to upgrade and refurbish all major hospitals to give them a ‘fit for purpose state.’

Other plans, he said, included the refurbishment of all old hospitals in the next financial year. Giving a vote of thanks, the area councillor, Mr Oarabile Bafetanye expressed gratitude for the good work that the contractor did in renovating the clinic.

He assured the minister that the facility would be well looked after. He also encouraged the clinic’s staff to be passionate about their work and to continue working as a team for the benefit of patients they attend to. ENDS
