Murder accused Modisaotsile Peter was on Thursday remanded custody by the Francistown Magistrate’s Court.

The court ordered Peter’s continued custody pending outcome of a forensic examination that forms part of the investigation.

As the case involved a minor, Magistrate Tshepo Magetse said it was important to involve the parents of the deceased as well as social workers in this matter.

When asked in court, the grandmother and the aunt to the deceased told court that the social workers had been offering support to the family.

However, the grandmother told court that currently the mother of the deceased was not well and she is not coping ever since the incident despite going for counselling weekly.

Peter, aged 36, is facing a single count of killing an eight-year old girl who was wheel-chair bound in Tonota on December 27 at Manyanda ward. He will appear again in court on March 13. ENDS
