Noello at it again

03 Feb 2014

Noello, that motswako artiste who took the music industry by storm not long ago, is at it again, with his latest hit Yimiwii.

The sizzling hit is but a taste of his second album. He plays it along the motswako national anthem O ska becha, which hoarded all the Motswako praise last year.  Noello, born Mooketsi Letlhalerwa, has always had a passion for music. The release of his second album is a long held dream come true.

He is forever grateful to A.T.I, who featured in his first project and helped him gain recognition. He is among a few artistes in Botswana who have ventured into the motswako genre, and takes pride in the fact that the language of his music allows for many interpretations at the same time. His kwaito beats are also different.

Born and bred in Orapa and a soldier by profession, Noello is thankful to the military for teaching him discipline and multi-tasking. “I am determined and passionate about my work, that is why I am able to balance music with my profession and mulit-task, it all goes back to discipline,” he says.

His smash single Yimiwii is a feel good song, with a vibe party theme and an electrifying message. Yimiwii is a catchy word that expresses all sorts of situations, concepts and different interpretations, from a happy exclamation to a sad one.

Noello is hoping to incorporate this single with the famous  “Yimiwii” Orange advert and is hoping that they will come to an agreement so that it features in their adverts, although negotiations are at an early stage. This single is already out and will soon hit radio air waves. All this, is towards the buildup of his upcoming album Pula, which comprises 15 tracks and is due for release around September.

The much awaited album will feature a lot of collaborations and artistes from different genres. It consists of the likes of Thabang, a jazz artiste and Mix, who is from the renowned Blue Maffin International Record Company.

He says, “I would like to feature a lot of upcoming young artistes to give them the platform and the opportunity to venture into the industry as well as the exposure.”

He is enthusiastic about making videos for all his singles with the profound help of Paul Dayz, who will be responsible for the shooting of the videos. The album will attract Batswana and South African markets, he says.

Noello advised it takes lots of courage to excel in motswako music and advised his peers and those who look up to him to seek education first because it is the foundation for every career. Motswako is a tricky genre to venture into since it requires one to be smart, have the x-factor, passion and talent to breakthrough into the music industry, he says. ENDS
