Murder incidents worry police

Police in Letlhakane have arrested a 31-year-old man of Zimbabwean origin, also an illegal immigrant in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old Motswana woman of Mokgobelele Ward.

Letlhakane Police Station commander, superintendent Michael Maphephu said in an interview that upon receiving the report around 10am, they rushed to the scene where they found the victim’s motionless body lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to Letlhakane Primary Hospital where she was certified dead.

He said a sharp object was used to commit the heinous act.

Mr Maphephu indicated that this was the third murder incident recorded in his policing area since beginning of the year.

On a different matter, acting on a tip off, Supt. Maphephu said his officers arrested two men in Letsibogo Ward for 40 Marijuana plants found in a backyard garden.

Both 26 years old, the men were also said to have been found in possession of five sachets of Methcathinone drug, popular known as Cat in the streets.

The police also discovered eight sachets of dried Marijuana during the search of the culprits’ house.

Meanwhile, Supt. Maphephu decried high usage of illicit drugs in the country, adding that it impacted negatively in the lives and future of the young generation. ENDS
