Police in Machaneng are looking for a Zimbabwean man who fled the scene after killing a Motswana man over a traditional beer brawl in Dovedale recentlly.

Assistant Superintendent George Mabuta said in an interview that the two were herdsmen from Dovedale farms, and had been drinking traditional beer  when a brawl erupted. He said this was after the murder accused demanded that the deceased hand over the last bits of beer.  

He said upon the police’s arrival, the accused had already fled the scene while the deceased was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Mr Mabuta said efforts were ongoing to find and arrest the accused who was still at large.

Furthermore, he said they had recovered the murder weapon.

He said he was worried about the growing rate of violent crimes in Dovedale, saying from late 2024 to date, they have been recording a number of cases of murder, assault and murder-suicide. ENDS
