Flash flood kills seven

22 Feb 2025

President Advocate Duma Boko has confirmed that seven lives have been lost following relentless rains, which led to flash flooding in some parts of the country. Three, he said were children.

Addressing the nation today, Mr Boko further said 2 994 people had been affected, 1749 evacuated and 705 of which were children.

While, he appreciated that rain had a positive impact on people and animal lives, he said torrential rains could also bring destruction as infrastructure such as road and many people’s properties such as vehicles, houses, household items among others, were destroyed during heavy rains, which wreaked havoc in the country.

He therefore promised that government would assess whether the infrastructure available was in conditions to withstand any disasters in future.

He further thanked all who had been working tirelessly to rescue those stranded since the torrential rains started on Tuesday. ENDS
