11 Feb 2025
Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Major General Pius Mokgware is in Zambia to attend the 51st African Regional Labour Administration Centre (ARLAC) Governing Council meeting.
The meeting has brought together ministers responsible for labour and employment issues from across Africa.
A press release from the ministry says this year’s meeting will feature a ministerial High-Level Symposium, focusing on innovative approaches to tackling informality and promoting transitions towards formality to promote decent work.
The release further says ARLAC is an intergovernmental organisation aimed at strengthening labour administration systems across the continent.
“It provides member countries with training, research, consultancy and advisory services to help improve their labour practices,” says the release.
It further explains that the governing council is the highest decision-making body within ARLAC, with meetings held biannually to discuss key labour and employment matters.
He is accompanied by senior government officials and the team is expected back home on Friday. ENDS
