29 Jan 2025

The body of a man was found lying motionless by a passerby in a pond at Manonnye stream in Mokwenanyane ward in Serowe in the early hours of this morning.

Speaking in an interview, Detective Assistant Superintendent Mr Isaac Molefhi of Serowe Criminal Investigation Department Unit, said he received a report of the horrific incident at around 07:15am.

Detective Molefhi said they then rushed to the scene to ascertain what could have transpired and indeed found a body lying on a pond motionless.

He revealed that it appeared that the body had a day or two in the pond because it was in a decomposed state, adding they were asking members of the public to come and identify the deceased.

He said at the time of going to press no one had recognised or identified him, adding they were waiting for pathologists to make an examination that would shed light on what could have transpired.

Furthermore, he said it was difficult to see if there were injuries to the body and therefore banked on the pathology unit to do their utmost best.

He said the police would not rule out foul play.

In addition, he said all the analysis would be made that would shed light on the direction to be taken.

He further said in Serowe policing area,  water engulfing people’s lives was a cause for concern, pointing each and every day messages were being disseminated on safety precautions during rainy seasons. ENDS
