Court revokes Holland bail
23 Jan 2025
Francistown Principal Magistrate, Mr Tshepo Magetse has revoked the bail of British national, David Holland citing the accused's failure to meet conditions of his previous bail.
Holland was arrested on January 21 after evading justice and failing to appear in court since being granted bail in July last year.
Magistrate Magetse emphasised that Holland had demonstrated clear disregard for his bail responsibilities.
"The accused is not a candidate for another chance at liberty on bail. His previous absconding undermines the principles of responsibility and the administration of justice. The only appropriate place for him to attend court proceedings is in prison," he said.
Holland was therefore remanded in custody and forfeited his P10 000 bail bond.
He faces five charges of common assault, dangerous acts with arms, threat to kill, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intimidation committed between April and May 2023 in Francistown.
A sixth charge of unlawful possession of illicit substance was withdrawn. The case will continue on January 28 to amend some of the charges. ENDS
