Mhaladi urges Bakwena to rebuild shelter

22 Jan 2025

Bakwena Deputy Kgosi, Kgosi Lawrence Mhaladi has urged Molepolole residents to contribute to efforts to rebuild the main kgotla shelter.

Kgosi Mhaladi was speaking during a joint kgotla meeting held by Molepolole North MP, Mr Arafat Khan and his counterpart from Molepolole South, Mr Shima Monageng.

The shelter was burnt down during riots following the ritual murder of a taxi driver and subsequent arrest of one suspect.

Kgosi Mhaladi said lack of a shelter had deprived Bakwena their dignity and culture, saying it was disheartening to see people sitting under tents during meetings. He called on the tribe to volunteer, adding that a committee to undertake this task should be formed.

Kgosi Mhaladi further appealed to leaders who managed public affairs to update the tribe about assets under their management.

He also noted that some committees had been in office for many years and it was time for change.

Kgosi Mhaladi also appealed to Bakwena to immediately attend to the graveyards that were destroyed by the recent floods, a situation he said needed urgent attention.

Addressing the MPs who had just taken office, he said it was imperative for them to introduce themselves to their electorate so that they could share ideas and take their concerns to Parliament. ENDS
