Kebonang dismisses recusal application

Gaborone High Court has rejected an application by the state seeking the recusal of Judge Zein Kebonang from presiding over the Carter Morupisi matter.
The state had filed an application before the High Court contending that Judge Kebonang would be conflicted as his twin brother was a recipient of a donation from Capital Management Botswana (CMB) which is at the centre of the Morupisi’s case.
In his ruling over the recusal application, Judge Kebonang stated that he was not his brother's keeper thus there was nothing that connected him to Mr Morupisi.
The former Permanent Secretary to the President is challenging the constitutionality of the Court of Appeal's judgment on his appeal. Judgment on the matter has been reserved for January 3, 2025. Ends
