Police call for festive season vigilance
21 Dec 2024
As the festive season mood intensifies, police in Francistown have urged citizens to be vigilant, cautioning against letting the celebratory atmosphere overshadow safety.
Northern divisional commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner Cynthia Setilo said in an interview that the police were prepared to provide a round the clock service throughout the holiday period.
"We are aware that the festive season often sees an increase in both celebratory and criminal activities. But let me assure Batswana that we will be on high alert to ensure a peaceful and prosperous festive season for all," she said.
Ms Setilo also appealed to citizens to take personal responsibility for their safety, advising homeowners to employ security measures such as security guards when leaving their homes.
She highlighted the effectiveness of neighborhood watch programmes as a valuable community-based security initiative.
