Police are investigating an incident in which a 64-year-old mother is suspected to have killed her 42-year-old son at Mmamokhasi Ward in Kanye recently.

In an interview, station commander, Superintendent Vincent Pitseetsile said the incident was reported last week and investigations were ongoing to determine its cause.“We received a report last week and upon arrival at the scene, we found the 42-year-old man lying on the ground at his home and was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead,” Supt. Pitseetsile said.

He said they were told that the deceased and his mother had a misunderstanding and attempts by the other 40-year-old son resulted in his brother’s death.“We have the 40-year-old and his mother in police custody to help with the investigation to determine what might have caused the incident,” he said.

In another incident, Supt. Pitseetsile said they had, on December 8, received a report that a 38-year-old man from Goo-Kgano in Kanye had been missing person for three days.

He appealed to the public to assist the police in the search for the missing man, whom he described as of medium built, about 1.2 metres tall and was last seen wearing blue pants and cap with a brown t-shirt.

On one hand, Supt. Pitseetsile also appealed to the public to be cautious, particularly during the festive season and urged those travelling to notify their neighbours and ensure that their property was safe. ENDs
