01 Dec 2024
Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe has encouraged Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama whose royal title is now Kgosi Khama IV to discharge his duties with humility and grace to serve his tribe well.
Speaking during the reinstatement ceremony in Serowe on Saturday, Mr Gaolathe further wished Kgosi Khama IV well and trusted God would guide him in his endeavours.
The ceremony started at Serowe Sports Complex and culminated at the main kgotla where Kgosi Khama IV was set to resume his duties as the Paramount Chief of Bangwato. Mr Gaolathe said he recognised Kgosi Khama IV as a man of integrity and a leader of a solid record of accomplishments.
Furthermore, the Vice President said everything that God had ordained and anointed should portray positive attributes that could be envied by many.
Mr Gaolathe, therefore, lauded Bangwato for introspecting in a manner that led to achievements of great milestones.
He drew inspiration from the book of Psalms that goes; ‘Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path’.
He said the words reminded him of the people of Ga-Mmangwato who understood very well what they wanted and were unwavering to what they believed in, adding that when people walked in light they do not stumble.
The Vice President commended Kgosi Kgamane for his outstanding commitment to serve and support Kgosi Khama IV.
He described him as an encyclopedia of posterity for upcoming generations to tap into the fountain of wisdom that he is.
Mr Gaolathe also hailed Kgosi Mokhutshwane Sekgoma for uniting communities, noting such efforts shall not go unnoticed by God. He said Kgosi Mokhutshwane spoke fondly about Botho, impartiality, accountability and responsibility, serving with distinction, dignity and merit.
He thus implored other leaders to borrow leaf from Kgosi Mokhutshwane on how best to build and unite the nation.
Senior royal uncle Kgosi Sediegeng Kgamane expressed profound gratitude to Kgosi Khama IV for trusting him to take care of Bangwato for so many years. Kgosi Kgamane’s reign as Ba-Gammangwato regent was from 1988 to 2022.
He thanked Bangwato for being supportive during his tenure, adding he had always informed them that there was the rightful heir to the throne through birthright. ENDS
