One of Botswana’s promising rappers, Lefika Salang also known as Snow has released his mixtape titled Snowflakes the mixtape.

The Francistown born rapper began his music career in 2003 when he established a Hip Hop group called: ’The Last Infatry (T.L.I). The mixtape, which consists of 14 tracks was released in October 2013.

Snow said that the diverse and unique areas he stayed in influenced his culture and love for music. The mixtape begins with a song called Get pimped which introduces Snow’s style of hip hop. He fuses English, Setswana and other languages throughout his songs. He encourages people to overcome fear and do the impossible in the track Fight it out. 

The song was recorded at Basement Records by the golden hands of Botswana’s renowned producer, Bk Proctor. The motivational single was Snow’s first Motswako track and it has already made airplay in the local radio stations.

The song Crack ya flow is a hip hop dance song which is based on a dance competition organized by Snow at KB Mall underground basement in Gaborone on the 28th of June 2013. A music video was shot for a song of the same title and it has been enjoying a lot of TV play on eBotswana.

In the track “Outta this world”, he features Konkrete, one of the best Kalanga rappers in Botswana. Konkrete’s deep voice and lyrics brings in an element of poetry and shows that hip-hop and poetry can go hand in hand.

Track number 6 B.A.C.K was performed on BTV Flava Dome as a warm up single after a long break from music scene. Snow has been away since 2010.

The song emphasises that rappers from the north are back with a bang and will probably dominate the hip hop arena in the years to come. With rappers like Euri, Apollo Diablo and Koncrete having already made their mark, it is difficult to exclude Snow as a potentially big rapper to come from the north. 

Other songs to look out for include, “Wat it doo, Cash time, Right here, Need to know and Hustlers”. The whole “Snowflakes the mixtape” is a combination of various productions from local producers.

He features many artists like J.T special Boy, Clyde Banks, Goblin, Konkrete, T.L.I Squad and Drark. “SnowFlakes the mixtape” is an appetizer for Snow’s Album “Roller coaster Of N.W.L” (Ngwana Wa Lekeishane), which he is currently working on. ENDS
