Lawyer leaves rape accused in limbo

Rape accused pastor, Goitsekgosi Mojadigo has been forced to look for a new attorney after his initial lawyer Mr Samuel Plaatjie withdrew from the case.
“We have received communication from the accused’s attorney that he is withdrawing his mandate,” state attorney, Mr Johane Gaolaolwe told Mochudi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Asked to explain how he would proceed with the trial, which is scheduled for November 4 - 7, Mojadigo told the court he had been having a hard time communicating with the attorney. “He is not cooperating with me at all,” said Mojadigo, who is the founder of The Divine Anointing Church International.
As such, he pleaded with court to afford him an opportunity to engage another attorney, adding that he was already in talks with another attorney to take over the matter. Magistrate Moanga advised him to look for an attorney who would accommodate the trial dates already set by the court.
“Remember I will not change the trial dates. Find a lawyer who will be available on those trial dates,” Magistrate Moanga cautioned.
The accused person, who is out on bail, is alleged to have committed four defilement and two rape crimes between January 1 and May 5 this year at Morwa and Donga in Francistown, resulting in a 16 year old minor falling pregnant.
The accused person will appear for mention on October 21. Ends
