Arrest warrant issued for rape accused

03 Oct 2024

Mochudi Principal Magistrate, Ms Queen Moanga has issued a warrant of arrest for police officer, Katlego Dikeleko who is charged with raping and robbing a fellow police officer.

The magistrate ordered on Thursday that Dikeleko be arrested after he failed to appear in court for judgment.

Ms Moanga’s order followed the prosecution’s assertion that the accused, who was on bail, failed to honour his court appearance

“We are surprised that the accused person is not in court, he has not communicated with us,” state prosecutor, Mr Johane Gabalaolwe told the court, and made an application that a warrant of arrest be issued against the accused, while judgment be rescheduled for October 21.

The accused person, according to the charge sheet, on or about the 13 November 2023 at or near Phaphane Ward in Mochudi in the Kgatleng Administrative District had an unlawful carnal knowledge of a certain woman without her consent.

The 31-year-old Dikeleko was alleged to have been violent resulting in an injury to the victim.

On the second count, which is robbery, the accused is alleged to have on the same day robbed the victim a Huawei Y7 cellphone valued at P2 000 and cash amounting to P3 000.

However, during the trial, the accused person refuted that he raped his colleague saying their sexual encounter was consensual despite having tied the victim with ropes.

He said the only difference on that day was they had agreed to spice the encounter with bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism (BDSM), and he was to play the monster while the victim was to be submissive.

As for the money the police recovered from him, he said the victim had asked him to buy her some items in Gaborone as he was scheduled to travel to Moshupa Prisons in the morning, adding that the phone was for him to transfer their sex pictures to his laptop for safe keeping.

He said he did not know what triggered the victim to report him for rape. However the state prosecutor,  Ms Seeletso Ookeditse disputed his claim saying there was never an affair between the two. The accused is representing himself. Ends
