A renowned cattle baron, Mr Rudi Lemcke of Lemcke Ranches in Ghanzi has pledged P5 million toward Ghanzi township facelift.
He made the pledge in Gaborone on Wednesday when making a presentation on ‘Sustainable use of genetic diversity for more efficient and resilient livestock production in our climatically challenged conditions,’ during the ongoing Botswana Livestock Breeders Conference. “Every time I pass through Ghanzi, it comes to my mind that it needs a facelift,” said Mr Lemcke.
He said it was unfortunate that despite Ghanzi being one of the livestock hubs production in the country, the township was not in a good state, therefore in need of restoration.
He said the facelift would include construction of stalls for street vendors as well as maintenance and upgrading works.
He said one of the facilities in need was Ghanzi Police Station.
Therefore, Mr Lemcke challenged the business community in other localities, towns and cities to emulate his initiative and improve the face of the places where they were doing business.
“I am proud of what I am doing and I love this country,” he said. Ends
