Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) promises to enhance the livelihoods of Batswana, calling for a change in leadership ahead of the upcoming elections on October 30.

During the launch event for Mr Olebogeng Watshipi, the aspiring candidate for the Mmopane/Metsimotlhabe Constituency the Leader  BPF Mr Mephato Reatile emphasised that the time for change has arrived. He criticised the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) for failing to improve conditions for Batswana over its 55 years in power.

“The frustrations felt by the people are clear indicators that change is needed. The BPF stands as the vital alternative,” Mr Reatile stated.

He said  the BPF’s commitment to ensuring that citizens benefited from government programmes designed to bring significant improvements to their lives.

The endorsement of Mr Watshipi, whom Mr Reatile described as highly capable and trustworthy, signalled the party’s confidence in his potential to uplift the constituency.

“In this man, you have a dynamite that can break every challenge and bring change to the people of Mmopane,” he said.

He also noted that the party’s patron, Lt Gen Seretse Khama Ian Khama, is expected to return to Botswana soon, hinting at an intensification of their campaign efforts as election day approaches.

BPF campaign manager Mr Phagenyana Phage echoed Reatile’s sentiments, highlighting Mr Watshipi’s extensive experience serving as a councillor for Mmopane for eight years. Mr Phage expressed his belief that Watshipi possesses the leadership qualities necessary to drive transformation in the community.

“Residents should make sure they vote for Mr. Watshipi; he can be trusted and will not disappoint,” he urged.

Adding to the momentum, Lt Gen Gaolathe Galebotswe, a candidate for the Mogoditshane West Constituency, stated that Mr Watshipi arrives at a crucial time when robust leadership is essential for navigating a challenging political landscape.

“The time has come for true change-makers to advocate for what is right,” he said. Mr Galebotswe emphasised that with Mr Watshipi, the BPF embodies the mandate to improve the lives of Batswana, encouraging constituents to support the young candidate who has demonstrated a commitment to his community.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Watshipi expressed readiness to lead the Mmopane/Metsimotlhabe constituency towards development. He conveyed his understanding of democracy shaped by experience and articulated his decision to run under the BPF banner, aligning with their democratic principles.

“I have your best interests at heart and I remain committed to changing the lives of Batswana,” Mr Watshipi promised, as the BPF gears up for a pivotal election that could reshape the political landscape of the country. Ends
