Court discharges traditional doctor

Progressive Ministry Apostolic Faith Healing Church pastor, Bantshuti Nkgarapi sighed with relief on Tuesday when a single count of rape he faced was quashed by the court. Magistrate Ms Kamogelo Mmesi of Extension II Magistrate’s court discharged the matter after the victim, who is a minor, changed her statement when the trial was about to commence.
According to the charge sheet, Nkgarapi, who is also a traditional doctor, was brought before the court charged with rape contrary to Section 141 (1) of the Penal Code laws of Botswana.
The accused person is alleged to have on 1st and 8th April last year at Gomora ward in Mokatse in the South East Administrative District, had an unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor without her consent. ENDS
