Serowe police investigate murder incident

Serowe police are investigating an incident in which a 27-year-old Zimbabwean national died following a confrontation outside Morning Star bar in Serowe on August 9. In an interview, Serowe Police Assistant Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Eric Dambe said the fight ensued after a misunderstanding outside the bar resulting in the loss of life. The deceased, whose name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin, was accompanied by his friend and was assaulted by some boys at the bar.He said he was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital, Mahalapye hospital and Princess Marina Hospital, where he later died.He said two suspects from Serowe, aged 31 and 32,had been arrested and were in police custody. “Investigations are still ongoing and we are yet to establish exactly what may have caused the fight as the man is still in mortuary,” he said.He advised people to always consider other methods of handling disputes, such as reporting to the police wherever they had misunderstandings, rather than taking the law into their hands.He said the Zimbabwean national was working in Serowe doing miniature jobs.Similar cases, he said were a concern in Serowe and surrounding villages.
