Botswana Democratic Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Selebi Phikwe West, Ms Beauty Manake is poised to win the constituency in this year’s general elections, says President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.

Speaking to Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members who had gathered outside the Manake house in Bobonong to condole with the family, President Dr Masisi said that Ms Manake was blessed with her father’s vote during the party’s primary elections a few hours before his passing.

Mr Molosiwa Manake (74) died July 28 after his daughter was announced the winner of the primary election.

“There’s no how Beauty will lose these elections after her father blessed her with a vote in the primary elections before he transitioned. It will forever be etched in her memory that her father gifted her a vote in primary elections before he passed on. He did that for her and for the party,” President Masisi said.

He described Mr Manake as a staunch BDP supporter who baptised his children into the party.

“Remind everyone that the old man has left a word that should be followed by all. Those who oppose it are anti-progressive,” said President Masisi.

While appealing to the family to offer the widowed 68-year-old Ms Keswelang Manake unwavering support, Dr Masisi assured Ms Beauty Manake of  the party’s and government support during her dark hours.

“He played his part. It is painful, but you should let your faith in God guide you through this difficult time,” President Masisi said to the bereaved who he encouraged to find comfort in the fact that they spent a lot of time with their late father who raised them well.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Ms Boikhutso Manake thanked President Masisi for condoling with them and urged him to continually extend the same gesture to Batswana who lose their loved ones. He will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Meanwhile, President Masisi also condoled with Nkgowe family where he lauded the late 84-year-old Mr Rapelang Nkgowe as a contributor to the local economy.

Mr Nkgowe, who traded with semi-precious stones, reportedly employed some Batswana, uplifting their lives consequently. He passed on July 13 while admitted at the hospital.

“We found it fitting to come here and condole with you for the old man was a businessman who employed others to better their lives,” said President Masisi, describing Mr Nkgowe as a committed BDP cadre who advised youth on the party culture and ways. Ends
