Court remands murder accused in custody

A 34-year-old man of Botshabelo ward in Sese, who is accused of killing his mother and injuring his step father, is scheduled to appear for status hearing before Jwaneng Magistrate Kgopolo Ntseane on August 6. 

Diphetogo Kekobileng is facing two counts of murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm emanating from a brawl he had with his parents over the use of his donkeys on January 27, 2023. 

On count one, the accused person reportedly unlawfully caused grievous bodily harm and inflicted injuries on his mother, Lapologang Kekobileng at Sese on the said date. 

The latter succumbed to the injuries on April 5, 2023, after she was admitted to several medical facilities following the incident. 

On the second count, the particulars of the offence show that he assaulted Popamiso Leburu by hitting him with a brick, injuring him at or near Sese on January 27, 2023. 

The victim was treated for the injuries and discharged. 

The accused’s bail had to be revoked after he previously violated the bail conditions. Appearing for mention on Monday, he pleaded with the court to facilitate the prosecution to give him access to his properties. 

He was further remanded in custody and is expected to appear on August 6. 

The prosecution, led by Inspector Lorato Chabaetsile of Jwaneng police, would also update the court when the murder case would be committed to the High Court for trial. Ends
