Ghanzi Senior Magistrate, Mpho Molema has ordered that two men, Keduetswe Dithole (40) and Tsholofelo Segakalo (28), who are facing charges of assault and causing bodily harm, to be remanded in custody pending completion of police investigations.
Dithole is reported to have on July 14 at Molapo ward in Ghanzi, unlawfully assaulted Patricia Meadow, causing injuries to her face.
In a separate incident, at Morama ward, Segakalo unlawfully wounded Dingalo Tshabu by stabbing him with a knife, resulting in injuries to his chest and right arm.
State prosecutor, Sub Inspector, Shathiso Ngebani, in his submission, pleaded with the court to remand the duo in custody since police investigations were ongoing.
He argued that Dithole should be remanded in custordy since the victim was still hospitalised at Princess Marina Hospital.
However, Dithole pleaded with the court to release him because there was no one to look after his children since their mother was the one admitted at the hospital.
Inspector Ngebani also submitted that Segakalo should be remanded for the same reasons that the victim was still in hospital and in a critical condition at Princess Marina Hospital.
On another matter, Kabelo Molaodi (23) was released on a conditional bail following an incident on July 13 at Khurakhura ward in Ghanzi where he assaulted Botshelo Madumane causing him to sustain injuries on his left ear.
Prosecutor Ngebani told the court that the investigations were ongoing, however the prosecution would not oppose bail application.
The accused person was released on bail and was ordered to pay a P500 fee, attend court whenever he is required to do so and also warned not to interfere with investigations.
The accused person will appear for mention on October 10. Ends
