They were just discovered by Rhumba star, Franco while dancing at events in the street.
The trio, Kealebogo Ramongalo, Ofentse Sebego and Lekgotla Nareetsile formed a group called Animals in 2009, under Franco and released their debut album dubbed Schechela Bana. This time around, Animals dropped Ke utlwile sengwe, a six track kwaito kwasa album they released on their own without Franco.
With the experience and skills they had acquired while working with Franco, the group managed to produce listenable album.
In an interview, Animals said though they successfully recorded the second album without their mentor, it was challenging compared to the first album where everything was for free. The group said it was that reason that they took long to drop the second album since 2009.
Ke Utlwile Sengwe is said to be most popular in Gabane, a village where the group is based. All the songs were written and sang by Animals including Gabane Dladleng, Mamela, Bashianyana, Ngwana’mme and Ke Bale.
Produced by one of the best producers locally, Dr Tawanda, the album is fast paced and instruments are mostly keyboards. For marketing themselves, Animals targeted the festive season and toured the country with Shumba Ratshega. ENDS
