Police in Francistown are appealing to the public to help them in the search for a Matobo man, who is alleged to have killed his two children on Sunday (July 7).

Francistown Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent, Douglas Khumalo said it was reported that lifeless bodies of the two children, aged three years and 11 months were found in the suspect's dwelling house in Area 9 in Monarch location.

He said they have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled the scene immediately after committing the crime on Sunday at around 9:00am.

However, Assistant Superintendent Khumalo said they were disturbed by social media reports suggesting that the suspect had been found hanging from a tree.

"We are still looking for the man. He is still at large and we are disturbed by reports that he has been found," he said.

He said investigations into the matter were still fresh and the motive behind the killing remains unclear. Ends
