My Star fans in Palapye left Botsalo Cresta Hotel disappointed with the crop that turned up to try their luck at the competition’s auditions over the weekend.

Few youngsters who came to try their luck at My Star auditions failed to impress the judges and about 10 were reluctantly given a 'yes' on their second attempt except for one Tumisang, who was showered with praises by Master D Sesinyi, Kgomotso Tshwenyego and Shanti Lo.

“Palapye had in the past produced good singers but today was a disaster. I do not think this crop will make it in the next round except for Tumisang,” Tshwenyego said.

Even Kesegofetse who made it to the top five in the last competition and was taken to Pretoria for a music course did not impress the judges but he was later given the nod to advance to the next round. Tshwenyego told him that he had not beaten anyone so far in places My Star had visited and therefore needed to work hard to book himself a place in the Top 20.

“Just because you were in the Top 20 last time does not mean that you will easily make it. We still have 16 places to go to and what you have done is not enough.”

Shanti Lo also expressed his disappointment saying that he expected Kesegofetse to give his all since he had been polished. The show coordinator Master D was also not impressed and asked Kesegofetse what he was doing in the auditions since My Star took him to Pretoria for a music course but Kesegofetse answered that he was not prepared in the last competition and was coming back a better person and ready to win the competition.

Even though auditions were still ongoing, Master Dee promised the best in this year’s My Star season. He said there was going to be a fierce competition because of some great voices the show had come across in the auditions.

He urged those who made it to the next round to work hard to stay in the show and focus mainly on the choice of their songs as some songs were not good for the competition.

He said they should pick the right songs which would display their vocal ability. ENDS
