The police in Matsiloje are investigating a case in which a man died after he was stabbed with a sharp object on Christmas day.
In an interview, the deputy station commander, Assistant Superintendent Alec Marula said the incident took place at Patayamabele when two men fought over a girl
He said the deceased, who was said to be a long time boyfriend to the girl, did not see eye to eye with the suspect whom he suspected to be having a relationship with his girlfriend.
Asst Supt Marula explained that information reaching their office was that because of the bad relations that existed between the two, the deceased sternly warned the suspect several times to stay away from his girlfriend.
He said the deceased met his demise after he met the suspect at 10pm coming from the direction of his girlfriend`s residential place, and on asking him whether he was from checking his girlfriend, he stabbed him to death. The suspect had since been held in custody.
He noted that woman who was being fought over told them that she was in love with the deceased and never had any affair with the suspect. The police chief warned the public to desist from having affairs with more than one partner as it resulted in such incidents.
Asst Supt Marula advised that if things seemed not to be working between partners, they should discuss the matter and arrive at a peaceful solution.
He said besides the incident in his jurisdiction, everything went well during the festive season and their border was under good surveillance, which saw them apprehending a few foreigners who tried to cross into the country without proper documents whom they immediately deported. ENDS
