The government has enacted an affirmative action policy to ensure that the Tsokatshaa access road is included in the A3 road Nata-Maun project.

Addressing a kgotla meeting in Tsokatshaa recently kgotla meeting in Tsokatshaa, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mr Eric Molale, said that when a national road was constructed, access roads under 10 kilometers were typically included in the construction plan.

However, recognising the importance of Tsokatshaa’s access road, which spans about 15 kilometers, special consideration was given due to the village falling under Rural Area Dwellers (RAD’s) category and its distance from essential services.

Mr Molale said that improving the road section would enhance access to services for residents, aligning with the government’s goals.

He also noted that the upgraded road would stimulate the local economy by facilitating access to markets and attracting potential investors to the area.

The minister urged residents to embrace these developments as they would significantly enhance their quality of life.

Additionally, he advised those employed in the project to remain dedicated and avoid absenteeism after receiving payment, as it could impede progress and lead to delays in project completion.

Meanwhile, Mr Kethusegile Goutwanye, the chairperson of Tsokatshaa Village Development Committee, expressed concern over the lack of project updates from district leadership.

He highlighted instances where companies abandoned projects without informing residents, causing confusion and uncertainty.Despite this, Mr Goutwanye praised the government’s decision to pave their road, recognising the positive impact it would have on the community. Ends
