Mmopane hosts boosta bash final lap

29 Dec 2013

The final lap of the annual Mascom Boosta Bash will be staged at Hillside Farm in Mmopane on December 31.

After six years being staged exclusively in Gaborone, Mascom Boosta Bash organisers took a dramatic decision to start a country tour of the festival.

The country tour started in Ghanzi on December 21 and was an instant success. From Ghanzi, it continued to Molepolole on December 24 and Serowe on December 26.

In Ghanzi, it featured an attractive line-up of artistes who did not disappoint. It included Dave Storm from Spain, Botswana’s Groove Cartell, Dj Lexx, Dj Anthem and Vee and other artistes from Ghanzi.

Those who will usher the year 2014 at Hillside Farm will enjoy yet another thrilling line-up comprising South African acts like Stimela, Kabelo, Mandoza, Tshedi of Malaika fame; international acts like Kafele Bandele as well as Dave Storm and local artistes among them the smooth voiced Samantha Mogwe, Groove Cartell, Dj Gouviea, Lexx, Khenzo and many others.

Fans will be looking into a thrill just like those in Ghanzi, Molepolole and Serowe. Although the weekend in Ghanzi was blessed with rains, people attended in large numbers. It is expected that many fans from Gaborone and its peripheries will also throng the Hillside Farm in large numbers.

Meanwhile, the Ghanzi show began with a high note with a set from Dj Lexx. Lexx started off his set with soft beat house tempos and climaxing to the more upbeat tempos and more commercial songs like Y Tjikutja by Uhuru, which is a popular among the night crawlers and proving to be a festive song for most people.

Groove Cartell got everyone on their groove as they caressed the tables and showcased the skills they came back with from their recent United States gig. When the Spanish man got on stage, he made sure everyone stormed on their feet to his tunes.

Dave Storm has been a regular at the previous Boosta Bash festivities and his coming to Ghanzi was a delight for those who know his skills on the turn tables. He did not disappoint the crowd and delivered an out of this world performance and the crowd could not contain themselves and others ended up on stage just to be close to the beats from Spain.

However, it was the pint sized multi-talented award winning Vee Mampeezy who put the show to a total stop. The people of Ghanzi are madly in love with Vee’s music. Although people were already boiling with fun and energetically charged by Dave Storm, when Vee got on stage it was as if the show was just starting.

Vee performed almost all of his songs from his previous albums and wrapped up with the latest tunes like Eitah, Baba and others from his new album Super Natural Volume 1.

The master mind behind the Mascom Boosta Bash, Seabelo Modibe said in an interview that they expected ‘high quality performance’ and were testing waters to gather what the fans around the country wanted in terms of entertainment.

Modibe also said taking the show to the people was a way of extending the brand as well as getting artistes closer to the people everywhere. ENDS
