Five remanded in custody for Wateka murder

Five men accused of murdering Edwin Wateka, a Netherlands citizen, appeared before the Mahalapye Magistrate Court on Friday (April 19) to face a charge of murder.
The accused were remanded in custody and will appear for another mention on May 8.
A press release from Botswana Police Service says the accused persons, Maduo Gopolang, 42, of Mookane and the quartet of Kago Emmanuel Ramagala, 31, also known as Cuche, Kabo Phiri, 29, Tefo Kgotso Boago also known as Ross, 24, Hendrick Siyabonga Chaka also known as Malets, 21, all from Dibete on or about April 12, 2024 at or near Dibete Artificial Insemination Ranch, acting together and with a common purpose allegedly murdered Wateka.
The release says the deceased was reported missing on March 31 and was later found dead at Dibete Artificial Insemination Ranch on April 12. It says police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects. BOPA
